As it states above I live in Staines, which is by the River Thames.
I do NOT live in "Staines-upon-Thames"
Staines, albeit spelt Stanes,
appears in the Middlesex section of the Domesday Book of 1086.
and not "STANES-UPON-THAMES"
Afterall everyone calls "Walton-on-Thames" - Walton
"Kingston-upon-Thames" - Kingston
"Henley-upon-Thames" - Henley
Even London is called London and not "London-on-Thames"
So whats the point?
Everyone will still call it Staines.
Just so a few people can think they live in a better place!
